December is a great wedding month for so many reasons \u2013 one of the most important being that it is when peonies come back in to season! This week’s holiday bouquet recipe, we\u2019re featuring a gorgeous holiday bouquet from Style Me Pretty (photographed by) with peonies prominently displayed, framed by three types of eucalyptus, astilbe, and lisianthus. With its \u201cingredients\u201d and easy to follow steps, this Recipe of the Week will show you that replicating the texture, style, and color in your own DIY bouquet is much more simple than it may seem!<\/p>\n

What you\u2019ll need for this holiday bouquet recipe:<\/h3>\n

Baby blue eucalyptus<\/a> – 4 stems
\nRed\/burgundy peonies<\/a> – 7 stems
\nWhite peonies<\/a> – 3 stems
\nWhite lisianthus<\/a> – 3 stems
\nSeeded eucalyptus<\/a> – 3 stems
\nNaked seeded eucalyptus<\/a> – 3 stems
\nBurgundy astilbe – 3 stems
\nA roll of floral wire<\/a> or tape<\/a>
\nOne pair of floral scissors<\/a>
\nRibbon<\/a><\/p>\n

** Looking to create a similar bouquet at a time of year when peonies aren\u2019t available? Try bunching stems of burgundy carnations together for a similar fluffy, feathery texture. You can also substitute in burgundy dahlias or black magic roses to create the same romantic feeling! **<\/strong><\/p>\n

Follow these steps to recreate this DIY holiday bouquet:<\/h3>\n

1. Re-hydrate your greens, fillers, and focal flowers<\/strong> for at least 6 hours before arranging them. The peonies may need a few days to open fully after you receive them.<\/p>\n

2. Cut the stems<\/strong> of your hydrated flowers and fillers to the length you want the handle of the bouquet to be. This is a pretty substantial arrangement, so a longer stem \u201chandle\u201d would make your DIY bouquet easier to carry with you throughout your big day!<\/p>\n

3. Start to build your bouquet<\/strong> – take a stem of your focal flower, and build the bouquet around it. If you\u2019d like your DIY bouquet to be the same size (or larger than) the bouquet in the photo, we recommend securing each layer with floral tape or wire once it\u2019s complete. This will help hold everything perfectly in place, while making it easier for you to add additional stems!<\/p>\n

4. Continue adding layers of focal flowers, fillers, and greens<\/strong> \u2013 alternating between each type will ensure that the overall look of your bouquet is evenly balanced. Continue securing each layer until you\u2019ve reached your desired bouquet size.<\/p>\n

5. Add your ribbon once you\u2019ve secured the final layer of floral tape or wire.<\/strong> Carefully wrap the ribbon around the handle of the bouquet, and hold it in place using pearl-head corsage or boutonniere pins.<\/p>\n
