When planning your reception centerpieces, there is more to consider than your favorite flowers or colors when selecting your blooms. Today we are discussing three of the biggest mistakes we see couples make when it comes to their reception tables and what you can do instead to avoid them.<\/p>\n

1. Centerpieces being too tall for guests to see each other<\/h4>\n

Make your centerpieces a conversation-friendly height. You don\u2019t want to ruin your guests’ experience by forcing them to talk to each other through a bunch of flowers. To combat this problem, consider utilizing tall and slender containers with an organic style arrangement or line the middle of the table with short vases and keep the flowers close to the top of the vase. We also love when couples take their flowers up in the air with an incredible suspended installation. Some of our favorite florals to use for centerpieces are peonies<\/a>, carnations<\/a>, roses<\/a>, and daisies<\/a> just to name a few.\u00a0<\/p>\n

2. Choosing overly fragranced flowers<\/h4>\n

Another mistake couples make With reception tables is utilizing florals and greenery that have a strong smell that can impact the experience for the guests\u2019 dinner. While scents are powerful, sometimes too much of a good thing can be just that too much. Flowers like hydrangeas<\/a>, tulips<\/a>, and ranunculus<\/a> are great options. I would suggest avoiding lilies, lavender, and Hyacinthus for tabletops and leaving those for the ceremony and cocktail hour.<\/p>\n

3. Selecting greenery that isn’t best around food and drinks<\/h4>\n

While we love eucalyptus<\/a>, and it has been a steady favorite among couples as a touch of greenery or full-blown garlands and wreaths, some varieties aren\u2019t particularly good around food and drinks. Seeded eucalyptus is the main culprit leaving little brown seeds all over your tablescapes. Don\u2019t worry willow bark and silver dollar eucalyptus can give you the same look with less mess.<\/p>\n
