The answer of course varies dependent on a few factors. We are going to break it down and let you know the basics as well as what you might need for a few common DIY flower arrangements.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Basics<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>At the very least, you will want to ensure you have a good, sharp <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/flower-preparation\/floral-scissors_688\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pair of scissors<\/a>. We recommend using a floral scissor or<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/flower-preparation\/paring-knife-red_692\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> knife<\/a> as something with a dull blade could squish the stem and cause improper hydration. The second item you will want is some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/flower-containers\/cooler-bucket-black-13h-7w_879\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">buckets<\/a> (or vases) for the flowers to hydrate in. Flower buckets tend to be taller and help support the stems of longer flowers as well as holding a bit less so the flowers do not get overcrowded. If you are going to use vases or 5-gallon buckets, be sure the flowers are supported and not overcrowded.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-25878 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Floral-Scissors-Cutting-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"A pair of floral shears cutting the stem of a flower.\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Bouquets<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In order to create a bouquet, there is only one essential supply needed, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/flower-preparation\/green-floratape-stem-wrap_2637\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">floral tape<\/a>. This will literally keep the bouquet together. Optionally, you can include <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/floral-ribbon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ribbon<\/a> to tie the stems and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/wedding-floral-supplies\/boutonniere-pins_623\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">boutonniere pins<\/a> to secure the ribbon if you are not planning to tie a bow. For a trendy, loose bouquet, we recommend using a zip tie rather than floral tape. A loose zip tie will hold the bouquet together but not too tightly, this gives the asymmetrical, boho feel.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24779 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/f2-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"Ombre Pink Bouquet\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Centerpieces<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>For a simple square glass vase arrangement, you will want to create a tape grid. This can be done with scotch tape and does not require any other supplies!<\/p>\n<p>A tall or low centerpiece is usually created using plastic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/flower-containers\/designer-dish-clear-9_2642\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">designer dishes<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/floral-foam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">floral foam<\/a>, hot glue, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/flower-preparation\/waterproof-floratape-stem-wrap_687\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">waterproof floral tape<\/a>. You can of course use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/flower-preparation\/oasis-floral-adhesive-tube_730\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">floral glue<\/a> or any other type of craft glue.
