{"id":3150,"date":"2011-07-12T14:09:41","date_gmt":"2011-07-12T19:09:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/blog\/?p=3150"},"modified":"2025-09-25T10:25:25","modified_gmt":"2025-09-25T15:25:25","slug":"family-traditions-special","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/blog\/diy-flowers-how-to-tutorials\/family-traditions-special\/","title":{"rendered":"Make family traditions even more special!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Every 4th of July Weekend I go to my grandparents house in upstate New York to spend a week with my family and escape the congested cities of New Jersey. This is by far the best family tradition I could ever ask for. The air is fresh, there are more tractors on the road than cars, and the wild flowers are plentiful. There is a serenity there like no other place, it is the place that made our family so close. The whole family has a chance to catch up or even initiate new boyfriends and girlfriends making their way into the family (this year was my boyfriend&#8217;s turn, don&#8217;t worry he did well!). We play volleyball, set off fireworks, swim in our man made (grandfather-made) pond, eat lots of food (gram feeds a whole lot of mouths), bail hay, and even go craw fishing in local streams.<\/p>\n<p>This year there was a total of 22 people and four dogs staying at the 5 bedroom farm house (most people had to sleep in tents). As you can imagine, this is pretty hectic, especially when it&#8217;s time to eat (poor grandma)! But we love it so much, we get to help my grandfather bail the hay that pays the taxes on the property. This is our way of showing our appreciation for this wonderful get away. I could go on and on and on about my grandparents farm but lets get to the flowers!<\/p>\n<p>This year, my cousins and I decided that we wanted to make a wild flower bouquet. We grabbed some scissors and drove around the 30 acre property to find the most beautiful flowers for a wild flower summer arrangement.<\/p>\n<p>It was great to spend this time with my cousins, taking pictures (great job Katelyn!), cutting the flowers (thanks Anna!), and putting it together.
