My geraniums lasted longer than usual, and my potted chrysanthemums looked great. But now that Thanksgiving is over, and my mums are looking tired, it\u2019s time to switch seasons and do some December decorating for Christmas. With the variety of evergreens available in the wholesale flower market, the options for decorating the insides and outsides of our homes are more varied and beautiful than ever before.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"float: left; width: 100%;\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-bottom: 30px; padding-left: 7px;\" title=\"Evergreen Arrangement December Decorating\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/evergreenarrangement.JPG\" alt=\"Evergreen Arrangement December Decorating\" width=\"320\" height=\"214\" align=\"right\" \/> A Christmas wreath, of course, is wonderful, but don\u2019t put your window boxes and flowerpots away for the winter. Instead, fill them with holiday greens, ribbons, pinecones or ornaments to enhance and compliment that old favorite wreath. With simple cup hooks (that you will barely notice the rest of the year) you can frame your front door with lovely garland and bows. To add height and interest to your pots of evergreen, consider adding dead tree branches that have been painted white, silver, or gold.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"float: left; width: 100%;\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-bottom: 30px; padding-right: 7px;\" title=\"Evergreen Windowbox\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/evergreenwindowbox2.jpg\" alt=\"Evergreen Windowbox\" width=\"400\" height=\"300\" align=\"left\" \/> Don\u2019t forget your mailbox. With little floral wire, it is so easy to tie evergreen boughs over the top. Cover the wire with a bow, and no one will ever notice it! Last year, after I had wrapped the post with leftover garland, I decorated the base of our mailbox with leftover evergreens and sprigs of holly. My mail carrier was very impressed (and she\u2019s seen a lot of mailboxes!).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"float: left; width: 100%;\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-bottom: 30px; padding-left: 7px;\" title=\"evergreenwindowbox1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/evergreenwindowbox1.jpg\" alt=\"evergreenwindowbox1\" width=\"225\" height=\"281\" align=\"right\" \/>In Colonial Times, our forefathers brought evergreens into their homes to remind them that the long hard winters were temporary and that spring would always return. This works for us too! Adding garland to our mantles, stairs, and tables bring&#8217;s the beauty of nature inside and help&#8217;s bring \u201cwarmth\u201d to our homes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"float: left; width: 100%;\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"padding-bottom: 30px; padding-right: 7px;\" title=\"Evergreen Sled\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bloomsbythebox.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/evergreensled.jpg\" alt=\"Evergreen Sled\" width=\"300\" height=\"400\" align=\"left\" \/>Enjoy this beautiful time of the year, and enjoy decorating your home inside and out.
