Common Names: Glads, Gladiola, Sword Lily

Looking for an alternative to traditional white flowers for your wedding ceremony and reception? Your search ends with our fancy white gladiolus blooms. With their numerous funnel-shaped flowers — measuring 2 to 4 inches in width — clustered vertically along the stems, gladioli add height and mass to your floral designs. Native to Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean area, gladioli get their name from the Latin word “gladius” meaning sword. Due to their towering length and sword-like shape, they represent strength in character, integrity, and trust. They also symbolize faithfulness and infatuation. Sending them conveys the message to the receiver that he or she “pierces the heart.”

Whether you incorporate them into your special day for their meaning or beauty, gladioli can make a bold statement that’ll leave a lasting impression. For a formal wedding or black-tie event, white gladioli arranged in tall cylindrical vases and placed on tables as centerpieces capture the elegance of the occasion. For a colorful display, consider complementing them with gladioli in different hues or with other line flowers such as snapdragons, delphiniums or liatris. Typically featuring six to eight blooms on each stem, these flowers also make impressive boutonnieres and corsages.

Suggestions: Gladiolus are slower to bloom than most flowers, so we recommend having them delivered about 4 days before your event. To speed up the blooming process, we recommend removing the top bud from each stem as soon as you receive them, rehydrate them in warm water, and placing them in indirect sunlight before arranging them.
