Common Names: Glads, Gladiola, Sword Lily

These fancy yellow gladiolus blooms look as stunning on their own when grouped in bunches as they do standing alongside snapdragons, veronica, delphiniums or other tall flowers. They measure an impressive 3 to 4 feet tall and feature six to eight blossoms along each thick stem. Meaning sword in Latin, gladioli are native to Europe, Africa, and the Mediterranean area. In the language of flowers, they represent strength in character, integrity, trust, and faithfulness. They also symbolize infatuation, sending the message to someone that he or she “pierces the heart.”

Gladioli come in many mesmerizing colors, with each adding a special touch to floral designs.  Yellow gladioli are especially popular among DIY brides and party planners who are searching for a cheerful, sunny hue. What many find so enchanting about the fancy yellow gladiolus is the burst of orange color accenting the center petals. Available in the summer and early fall, they capture the sunshine of the warm months as well as the rich hues of autumn. Each blossom measures 2 to 4 inches in width and can be used to make impressive boutonnieres and corsages.

Suggestions: Gladiolus are slower to bloom than most flowers, so we recommend having them delivered about 4 days before your event. To speed up the blooming process, we recommend removing the top bud from each stem as soon as you receive them, rehydrate them in warm water, and placing them in indirect sunlight before arranging them.
