After a long, cold winter, spring is a time for the first greens: the first buds blossom and the leaves on the trees open. The slow awakening of the perennial bulbs peek through the snow. Springtime is also a popular time of year for flowers; for this reason, it produces some of the most beloved blooms used in bridal bouquets and centerpieces. Spring wedding flowers are a unique collection of colorful flowers that are full of meaning for the lovers of this season: Spring is a season of rebirth and renewal as evidenced by the flowering trees and gardens filled with blossoming blooms.
The following are some of our favorite classic and whimsical displays:
When we think of springtime wedding flowers, we can’t help but think of pretty pastels — pinks, creams, pinks, lavenders, blues, and yellows. In addition to their visual beauty, many spring florals — especially hyacinth, freesia, stock, and lilacs — are beautifully scented. For the quintessential classic spring bouquet, group lush peonies wholesale, garden roses, seeded eucalyptus and lemon papoose side by side. A simple, wide satin ribbon is all that is needed to complete the pretty look to walk down the aisle. For a vertical bouquet that has a casual feel, carry larkspur, snapdragons, and lavender. This look is perfect for an outdoor wedding and is surprisingly easy to execute!
There is something so charming and whimsical about springtime wedding flowers. Want your bouquet to emulate a flower garden filled with different bloom sizes and hues? It’s easy! Assemble a mix of peach lisianthus, lavender larkspur, light pink and cream spray roses, solidago and green hydrangea. To capture the fresh lightheartedness of this time of year, create a centerpiece of daffodils, tulips, pink cockscomb and Billy balls. Sprinkle in some Monte Casino asters and voila! You have successfully set the scene for an effortlessly chic table.
Blooms by the Box cuts and ships your fresh-cut flowers directly from our farm to your front door. Upon their arrival, however, it’s important to give them some TLC to ensure your blooms are ready for the big day! It’s important to carefully read and follow the care instructions you receive with your shipment. While care tips vary depending on the flower, we recommend rehydrating all flowers immediately. Do this by holding the stems underwater and cutting about 1-inch from the bottom using a sharp knife or garden scissors. Be sure to cut on a 45-degree angle; this ensures that you increase the surface area allowing each bloom to absorb more water. Additionally, cut off any excess leaves that fall below the water line. Leaves that sit in water are likely to rot and introduce damaging bacteria. Other helpful tips include:
- Keep flowers in a cool environment — between 65 to 72 degrees Fahrenheit
- Keep flowers away from direct sunlight, heating or cooling vents and drafts
- Be sure to change the water every two to three days and add nourishing floral food
- Keep your fresh blooms away from fruit, as certain fruits release ethylene gas, prematurely age flowers and cause them to wilt sooner
