Flower bars are the hottest trend for a bridal shower. It is super easy and fun for your guests to build their own bouquet to bring home. This idea is perfect for baby showers, bridal showers, or parties of all types! Having a flower bar is a great way to have your guests interact and leave with a fun thank you favor. Here are some great tips and ideas for creating your pop-up DIY flower bar and how to express your artsy side to your friends and family.
DIY Flower Bars
When selecting your flowers for the flower bar, pick focal flowers, filler flowers, and greenery that are not fragile. Match your flowers to your party color theme. Decide if you want your guests to make flower bouquets or fill small glass vases. Or opt to have both at your flower bar and let them choose!
The day before your event, prep your flowers. Remove any thorns from rose stems. Clean all the flower stems by removing any foliage and cut the bottom of the stems at a 45-degree angle. Keep your flowers rehydrating in clean water. There are two ways you can decide to set up your flower bar. To avoid a mess, precut the stems to the desired length so there will not be any trimming during the event. Your guests can make their bouquets and go straight to the wrapping of the stems. Or supply the guest with a floral cutter and a garbage can to throw away the trimmings.
Setting Up Your Flower Bar
When you are setting up your flower bar on the day of your event, use decorative buckets. Fill the decorative buckets with clean water approximately ¾ high. If you opt for small vases for the guests, don’t forget to fill them with water. Set the flower bar up by color, size, or type of flowers. Be creative and add labels to your buckets filled with flowers with the name of the flower.
Don’t forget to include floral supplies. Depending on what your flower bar includes, remember to include scissors, floral tape, ribbon, flower food packets, and brown craft paper or tissue paper to wrap the stems. Be creative and have hangtags or stickers made, thanking your guests for celebrating you!

How many stems per guest should I buy for a flower bar?
Roni, I recommend that each guest make their own bouquet consisting of 5-6 stems, including both flowers and greenery.
What size containers on the bar did you use for the bulk of the flowers? I’ve seen 9in and 12in containers on Amazon but not sure which to buy. Do you have a link?
Hi Daffy, mixing 9″ and 12″ containers is very popular.
