Prep Your Supplies First

Before opening your flower boxes, make sure you have everything ready to go: Clean buckets or vases, floral shears or sharp scissors, and access to clean, cool water. Having supplies prepped ensures your flowers aren’t left out of water any longer than necessary.

Open Flowers as Soon as Possible

Your flowers have traveled a long way to reach you, so getting them out of the box quickly is key. As soon as they arrive, carefully open the packaging and remove any wrapping. They sooner the flowers can drink, they better they’ll recover from shipping.

Use Cool Water to Hydrate

Fill your buckets with cool (not icy) water and add any flower food you’d like. Trimming the stems at an angle allows for more surface area for the flowers to drink from. The fresh cut is so important in allowing flowers to drink and hydrate properly.

Swap Out the Water Daily

Clean water makes a huge difference. Change the water out daily, clean the buckets if necessary, and giving the stems a quick re-trim if they look cloudy or have any slimy buildup can also prolong their vase life. Fresh water helps prevent bacteria from growing and keeps the blooms nice and perky.
