Wedding trends and themes come and go – but garden roses are always on the “IN” list for bridal design décor. Garden roses exude timeless elegance and make a bold statement as a focal flower. And those endowed with the David Austin namesake are some of the world’s most gorgeous garden roses available today. English rose breeder David Austin creates his premier garden roses by crossing classic English garden roses with modern hybrid roses. The result is a fuller, rounder, and texture-filled garden rose, with a stronger fragrance and a slightly sturdier vase life. David Austin roses have become some of the most sought-after flowers in the wedding industry!

Popular David Austin Garden Rose Varieties

Popular David Austin garden rose varieties from L to R: garden rose Patience White, garden rose Darcy, garden rose Juliet Peach, garden rose Miranda Pink.

David Austin garden roses are most commonly sold in 12-stem bunches. Like their standard garden rose cousin they are bred in many colors and varieties. Here are some of the most popular David Austin varieties used for wedding bouquets and floral arrangements:

Garden Rose Patience White

Patience is the quintessential creamy-white David Austin garden rose. Its inner rosettes reveal a slightly milky white tone. Pair this beauty with other bold white flowers to create a uniform look. To accentuate and pop its white tones pair Garden Rose Patience with the dark purples of irises or the dark reds carnations.

Garden Rose Darcy Red

A true crimson delight, Darcy’s dark red color is reminiscent of raspberry with hints of gold toward the center of their blooms. Pair with greens such as mojito hydrangeas and the dark green of kale to complement its red shade.

Garden Rose Juliet Peach

Juliet peach is probably the most widely used David Austin garden rose for wedding designs. Brides love its medium peach toned petals. Create a sorbet themed arrangement by combining this flower with pink gerbera daisies, blue delphinium, yellow mini calla lilies, and greens found in foliage such as silver dollar eucalyptus and Italian Ruscus.

Garden Rose Miranda Pink

Resembling a large cabbage rose, Miranda Pink has light pink petals with almost airbrushed green streaks on their surface and gets slightly darker pink throughout its center. This is a favorite because of its garden and antique feel. Combine Miranda with creams, whites, and silver greens to fashion a luster themed look. Tie it all together with gold, silver, satin, and glass accents.

Introducing a new pink David Austin garden rose! It is a medium raspberry toned flower and is sure to wow brides this year. Its beautiful rosettes open to reveal a fuller shape than your standard garden rose. This is a true statement! Pair capability with orange carnations, rose ocean song, sunflowers, and purple wax flower to create a festival themed arrangement.

Garden Rose Purity

A new white garden rose, bred to be the purest and palest creamy white as of yet. This makes for a wonderful alternative to garden rose patience. Pair this with red, cream, or blue flowers to create a gorgeous holiday themed arrangement. Garden rose purity also looks eye-catching when combined with dark red peonies, lavender spray roses, and cream lisianthus to showcase a lavish themed design.

How to Care for David Austin Garden Roses

Like all garden roses, David Austin garden roses have a limited vase life. They tend to survive up to 3-4 days. They are also quite delicate and can be tricky to work with because of that. Keep them fully hydrated in cool water.  Prepare all other flowers first before working with garden roses to maximize their hydration time. Be patient and allow them to drink as much water as possible so that they appropriately rehydrate.
