Today in Bloom News, we have a mix of evergreen advice for ANY wedding celebration, as well as inspiration for couples hoping to navigate their pandemic-impacted wedding stylishly including Zoom weddings.

One of the biggest misconceptions we find about wedding planning (no matter the year!) is that couples think they need to have everything figured out and planned all at once. What many don’t realize is that this can cause undue stress. On Wedding Chicks, Joan shared the importance of breaking down the planning process into steps to avoid overwhelm.
“The fact is, everyone has different priorities so it is important to sit down and have an honest conversation with your partner about the top 2-3 things that matter most. Once you have those down, it doesn’t mean that you aren’t going to focus on the rest of the elements, it just means that you will allocate more time and potentially more money into those specific categories as you go about the process. It is a great idea to have these written down so you can refer back to them as well as have your partner be a part of the checks and balance process if one of you gets a little carried away with dessert when it wasn’t on your list.”
And how do you handle DIY projects? In short, have a timeline for them. Some things, such as a seating chart, can be done ahead of time. But for DIYing floral arrangements, you must purchase the times prior and then prep everything the day before or morning of- so be sure to plan accordingly!

The ability to adapt this year has been a common theme among our couples, and we’re thrilled that Storyboard Wedding shared Nicole and Alex’s improvised COVID micro wedding, which took place this past summer.
With their original large wedding plan being nixed because of COVID, Nicole and Alex decided to stick to their original wedding date and planned an intimate socially distanced micro wedding in Alex’s parents’ front yard. They DIY’d their ceremony backdrop with hanging paper circles and florals from Blooms by the Box and even drove to their original wedding venue to walk the grounds after their convertible getaway.

Worried that a Zoom wedding won’t have style? Have no fear- because Bespoke Bride shared Erin and Alex’s gorgeous and colorful backyard bash, and it will surely inspire you!
Erin and Alex are two color lovers who DIY’d their vibrant backyard wedding during COVID. Set by the pool in their parents’ backyard, this couple infused color and fun into their micro wedding. All of the florals were DIY’d by the bride, choosing hot pink peonies as her statement flower (which perfectly matched her heels!) Neither Erin or Alex are very fond of dancing, so they made a fun photo booth station stocked with props and a game table stacked with tons of their favorite board games to entertain their guests. In lieu of cake, Alex made a three-tier Rice Krispy Treat cake, with a colorful Fruity Pebble layer in the middle. Their Kentucky Derby formal dress code made it more fun for the few guests that attended, with everyone decked out in their hats and Sunday best (even their pup got a floral print bowtie!)
