PRODUCT DETAILS

Rich in beauty and fragrance, it’s no wonder red freesias are such a popular floral choice for weddings, galas, birthdays and other celebratory festivities. The red freesia is one of the most fragrant of all the freesia variations, making it the go-to choice for those who’re looking to fill their venue with a sweet, citrus fragrance. The scent of freesia is often used in perfumes, scented oils and soaps. Native to South Africa, freesias were given their name by botanist Christian P. Ecklon in honor of his friend and fellow botanist and physician, Friedrich H.T. Freese. As a result, freesia symbolizes friendship and thoughtfulness. Other symbols attributed to this elegant bloom include innocence, sweetness and trust.

Featuring as many as eight trumpet-shaped flowers that form a loose cluster at the top of each thin stalk, freesias are a popular floral used in bridal bouquets, centerpieces and boutonnieres. What make these red blooms so eye-catching are the yellow accents that fan out from the center and into the petals. Consider complementing these red beauties with yellow flowers or with a palette of rich hues such as purples, oranges and lush green filler for more dramatic designs.

Size: 12"-16" in stem length

Suggestions: Freesia blooms take a little longer to bloom and sometimes the multiple blooms do not bloom simultaneously. We recommend giving them a fresh cut as soon as you receive them, adding a small amount of flower food to warm water, and allowing them to rehydrate in indirect sunlight for a couple hours. After a few hours in sun, move Freesia stems to a cool environment and keep them in cool water until you are ready to use them for your DIY event!
