Tell us a little bit about the inspiration for your wedding design.

I used pieces that reminds me of home and of my childhood. The decorations blended flawlessly with the quirky rustic feel of the venue, so I had a lot of fun putting together everything on my own. The birds were a special nod to family members who could not be with us, and the vibrant colors were used as a tool to make the event lighthearted and sweet. We dedicated our time in college to each other first and always, so the design came naturally as the wedding started to come together. I planned all of it through a tough final semester of college, so I tried not to stress over perfect Pinterest weddings so I could stay true to our relationship in the design.

What was the most memorable moment from your wedding?

Hiding in the bride’s room after saying our vows so we could take a break and let our minds catch up to what our hearts were feeling!

Do you have any tips for future brides?

Be yourself in everything! Stop comparing yourself to other brides and Pinterest pictures!

Were there any design or logistic challenges that you encountered during your wedding planning? How did you overcome them?

Space — we were both in military school, so we had nowhere to store everything and no address to send the flowers to. So, we set up shop at the venue in a little cottage and had the flowers sent to a bridesmaid’s condo.
