This magical, real wedding takes place at a summer camp in bohemian style. Growing up, Sally and Austin had a fantastic time at summer camp, so they created a Bohemian-style summer camp wedding in Washington State. They met while working for Teach for America in Hawaii. Sally taught high school English, while Austin taught elementary special education. Sally’s mother was the expert in picking the wedding flowers, and the floral arrangements were DIY’d by Sally’s aunts, cousins, mom and friends in a yurt on site.

Real Wedding: Bohemian Summer Camp

Photographer: Zoe Burchard Photography, create a bouquet with 3 pink gerbera daisies, 4 pink stock, 2-3 king protea stems, 5 rose sweet Akito stems, 4 seeded eucalyptus stems, 4 rose Kahala stems, 5 stems of white monte casino aster.

Sally’s aunt made her bouquet while her mother created her flower crown. Sally cherishes many beautiful memories from her wedding day, including hiding in the forest and waiting to walk down the aisle, being lifted in chairs during the horah, singing in the tree sanctuary, the talent show, a toast from her best friend, and roasting marshmallows and singing around a campfire under the stars with a longtime friend playing the ukulele at the end of the night. It was a magical weekend for their wedding.

Sally’s advice to future brides is to hire a day event coordinator. This ensures that someone takes care of all the small details on your big day, allowing you to relax and enjoy it to the fullest. It’s important not to make assumptions about your groomsmen and what you expect of them. Clear communication of your expectations is crucial. You need not worry too much about the details, as they usually go unnoticed. The most important thing is that you and your partner are married.
